Islamic Adab

Posting Etiquette & Rules of Conduct

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The believer does not insult, curse, nor is he vulgar or shameless.” (Tirmidhi). We ask all community participants to embody these standards:

  • Verify Before Sharing: Always double-check Quranic verse numbers, translations, and Hadith sources before posting. Sincerity begins with truthfulness in transmission.
  • Advice with Wisdom (Hikmah): If you observe a fellow Muslim making an honest mistake, offer constructive guidance gently and with humility. Avoid public ridicule, arrogance, or harsh confrontation.
  • Avoid Futile Argumentation (Jidal): Differences of scholarly opinion exist in Islamic jurisprudence. Respect recognized classical diversity without engaging in endless argumentative debates that breed ill feelings.
  • Honor Intellectual Property: If quoting another person, author, or scholar, provide proper attribution and credit. Do not plagiarize articles or translations.
  • Maintain Respectful Profiles: Use dignified display names and modesty-compliant profile pictures. Do not use sacred names deceptively or impersonate scholars or moderators.
  • Accept Corrections with Grace: If another community member points out an inaccuracy with verifiable authentic proofs, receive the correction gracefully and amend your post.
